Two-Handed Backhand Contact Distance

Personalizing Your Contact Distance

When hitting a two-handed backhand, you may experiment with different ways to position your arms at contact. You might prefer your arms to be more extended, or you might find comfort in keeping them nice and snug, closer to your body. Jibran Akhtar's personal preference is to keep his elbows closer to his body, creating a more tucked contact position rather than extending further out. However, the exact distance of contact from your body is ultimately up to you. What matters most is that you continue to follow the proper path of motion, maintain relaxation, execute the movement correctly and efficiently, and engage your hips properly. As long as these fundamental elements are correctly applied, your preferred contact distance should be effective.
